Smartphones and tablets, and especially the iPhone and iPad, have turned out to be great games platforms. At times it feels like iOS in particular is the platform of the Finns with the successes of Rovio (Angry Birds) and Supercell (Clash of Clans and Hay Day).
However, my favorite game of 2012 was not made by Finns nor American gaming giants. Rather it was New Star Soccer by British indie developer New Star Games.
It is a football career game, where you start as a 16 year old and develop as a player to become a star in one of the major football clubs. You do that by scoring or assisting goals and intercepting the opponent a few times per game.
The game is available for iOS and Android (I've played it on both, the game is better on iOS) on mobile as well as for Windows and Mac. Give it a try!
