The current generation of a startup ecosystem builds on the remains of earlier generations. It usually takes decades for an ecosystem to develop. Silicon Valley is the prime example of this.
When the Swedish Internet ecosystem started to develop in the mid-90's, the Jan Stenbeck controlled Our Group (a.k. a. the Kinnevik group) was both an active participant and maybe even more importantly a source of entrepreneurs for companies like Spray and Icon Medialab.
So in addition to being interesting general Swedish business history, SVT's documentary about Jan Stenbeck gives some context to the Swedish Internet ecosystem.
